Wish you were here: Hellebores in Tipp City

Here at our Ohio office, we’re enjoying classic winter flowers: Hellebores!

Hellebores, also called Helleborus, are sometimes called Lenten or Christmas roses. It’s easy to see why they became associated with the winter holidays – their glossy leaves stay beautiful through the winter, and, in most climates, Hellebores even bloom in the snow! Helleborus are the object of myths and legends around the world. Many varieties are poisonous if eaten, and the combination of poison and beauty adds an element of intrigue to these delicate flowers.

These evergreen perennials bloom in early winter through early spring, depending on climate and variety. Known for their intensity of color, Hellebores tolerate low-light conditions, and are even resistant to disease and deer damage. These lovely, cup-shaped flowers last for weeks in the garden, and hold up well in a vase!

And we’re certainly enjoying our sunny Hellebores here in Tipp City, Ohio! Our Tipp City office houses our marketing department, web developers and US operations team. It’s been plenty chilly these first weeks of January, and hellebores peeping out of snowy gardens have added some much-needed color to our neighborhood. They’re a great reminder that spring will be here soon –and that we have a busy gardening season to look forward to!
